Ornament | Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree (large)

Shipping calculated at checkout.

Made to order - Please allow 3 business days to make - Thank you!

A contemporary, colourful ornament ready to be hung in a sunny window or under the chandelier; it will sparkle in the light and add to the holiday cheer! (If you are looking for an ornament to be hung on the Christmas tree, we recommend the smaller version.)

The handmade fused glass ornament features transparent glass that purposefully overlaps its clear base to increase the number and variety of spectral highlights. It is topped with a star bead and completed with thin, (almost) invisible yet strong fishing line.

Each ornament is handmade using leftover glass pieces from larger projects, and each each is one of a kind. The Christmas tree you'll receive may slightly vary in colour and composition from the samples shown here. This is normal due to the handmade process and not considered a defect. The overall style will be the same. I am happy to send you a picture before wrapping and shipping your ornament, just leave a note in the comments at checkout.

Please choose a main colour which will be complemented with smaller pieces of differently coloured glass.

- base: 10 cm
- height: 18 cm (20 cm incl. star bead)

This style is also available in a smaller size which is lighter and more suitable to be hung on the Christmas tree.

The ornament comes in a sturdy cardboard box so you can pack it away safely and enjoy it for many years to come.

What should I know about handcrafted kiln-fired glass?
Kiln-fired glass is beautiful and surprisingly sturdy, and colour its most striking feature. Transparent and translucent glass transmits light, whereas translucent and opaque glass reflects light. Often, I combine glass of different types and colours, creating unique pieces that change their look depending on the surrounding light conditions.

When photographing my products, I take special care to represent colours as accurately as possible. However, due to variations in computer and device screens, colours may appear slightly different than in person.

Are your pieces really one-of-a-kind?
Yes, all of my collections are small-scale / limited editions of one-of-a-kind pieces. The fact that each piece is unique (unique, like you!) is really important to me. Due to the handmade nature, the materials I use and the multi-step process, no two pieces will be exactly the same.

If you see a piece you love but would prefer in a different colour, pattern or shape, please do not hesitate and contact me. If the glass is still available, I'll be more than happy to make one to your liking.

How do I care for kiln-fired glass?
The color of your glass will never fade. Here are a few tips on how to keep it looking shiny and new, :

Jewellery: Remove jewellery before bathing or taking a shower, and store it in a dry place. Wipe the glass parts with a clean soft cloth. Findings can be polished with a special cleaning cloth.

Homeware: You probably use glass drink ware every day. Think of kiln-fired glass dishes in the same way. All plates, bowls, cocktail stirrers etc. are food safe, and we certainly hope you will use them often. Wash the glass with warm/hot soapy water and a soft cloth, then dry with a normal dish towel. This said, glass can break, so please handle with care at all times, especially when handling on hard surfaces.

What other materials are used in your jewellery pieces?
Stud earring posts, hooks or hoops are either  sterling silver or hypo-allergenic surgical grade stainless steel. Please see item description for details. I also offer clip-on backs that can be added to my stud earrings.
Pendant bails are sterling silver coated and has a clear hypo-allergenic finish which protects the silver plating from wear and oxidation, it will not tarnish if properly cared for.
Ring and bracelets bases are silver coated, lead and nickel free.  Rings are usually adjustable (unless otherwise noted) and fit approx. sizes  5.5 – 9. Link bracelets can be shortened by removing one or more links, which you can do yourself (contact me for instructions).
