What should I know about handcrafted kiln-fired glass?

Kiln-fired glass is beautiful and surprisingly sturdy, and colour its most striking feature. Transparent and translucent glass transmits light, whereas translucent and opaque glass reflects light. Often, I combine glass of different types and colours, creating unique pieces that change their look depending on the surrounding light conditions.

When photographing my products, I take special care to represent colours as accurately as possible. However, due to variations in computer and device screens, colours may appear slightly different than in person.

Are your pieces really one-of-a-kind?

Yes, all of my collections are small-scale / limited editions of one-of-a-kind pieces. The fact that each piece is unique (unique, like you!) is really important to me. Due to the handmade nature, the materials I use and the multi-step process, no two pieces will be exactly the same.
If you see a piece you love but would prefer it in a different colour, pattern or shape, please do not hesitate and contact me. If the glass is still available, I'll be more than happy to make one to your liking.

How do I care for kiln-fired glass?

Jewellery:
Keep your jewellery in a dry place. Wipe the glass parts with a clean soft cloth. Findings can be polished with a special cleaning cloth.

Homeware:
You probably use glass drinkware every day. Think of kiln-fired glass dishes in the same way, only that they are sturdier! All plates, bowls, cocktail stirrers etc. are food safe, and we certainly hope you will use them often!  It's safe to put the glass in your dishwasher if you pack it carefully and avoid that it's been touch by other dishes. Otherwise, wash your intem with warm/hot soapy water and a soft cloth, then dry with a normal dish towel. This said, glass can break, so please handle with care at all times, especially when handling on hard surfaces.

What other materials are used in your jewellery pieces?

Stud earring posts, hooks or hoops are either  sterling silver or hypo-allergenic surgical grade stainless steel. Please see item description for details. I also offer clip-on backs that can be added to my stud earrings.

Pendant bails are sterling silver coated and have a clear hypo-allergenic finish which protects the silver plating from wear and oxidation, it will not tarnish if properly cared for.

Ring and bracelets bases are silver coated, lead and nickel free.  Rings are usually adjustable (unless otherwise noted) and fit approx. sizes  5.5 – 9. Link bracelets can be shortened by removing one or more links, which you can do yourself (contact me for instructions).
